Avalon Tasmania Wedding – Jana & Ben

It all started eleven or twelve years ago, when I and Marina were watching a show on TV about architecture. The architect Craig Rosevear and the owner of this house in Tasmania were being interviewed and talking about all the bells and whistles of the build, but all we could think of was “F*ck, that place is awesome! We need to see that some day!”. But it was literally on the other side of the world, so the chance of actually seeing it in person was close to zero.
Fast forward a few years to when we met Jonathan Wherrett – an amazing Tasmanian wedding photographer. He flew all the way around the world to shoot a wedding in Aveiro (filmed by our friends Happy Together Films) and we met up for a cup of coffee. Our conversation eventually led up to Avalon, this insane house on a cliff of Tasmania we once saw on TV. To which he says: “I know the place! You can actually rent it out on Airbnb and book the place for weddings. I’ve actually shot a wedding at Avalon. And it’s pretty cool”.
– Wait. What?
” Yeah. Come and visit and I’ll show you around.”

So when Jana & Ben told me they booked Avalon to get married at, I couldn’t be more excited! It’s every bit as cool as it looks.
Even on a cold, windy day like this, we managed to hike down to the property’s private beach and do a little portrait session. And with that stellar sunset, we sneaked outside for a few more portraits under that firey sky!
