Yosemite maternity photographer captures Mel & John’s journey to parenthood
Back in 2019, Mel and John gathered all their friends, family and loved ones to celebrate their wedding in Sebastopol, California. It was for sure one of the most memorable moments in our career. It was an experience that we will never forget – documenting one of the best days in their lives and being trusted to capture the love, happiness and pure joy of those days. Especially on the other side of the world.
We still pinch ourselves thinking about it.
Fast forward to 2022 and they reach out again. This time, their family was growing and they wanted to have this moment captured. So we set out to Yosemite valley for a maternity session. Again, I was pinching myself.
What a treat. What a joyous time in their lives and what an honour and pleasure to capture it all for them.
We’ve been in Yosemite before, but reaching the valley and seeing those mountains with your own eyes is an indescribable feeling. I get goosebumps just by thinking about it. The sheer size of it all must be witnessed to be believed.
Mel, John and I drove up to the valley together and went through a few different locations for their photos. There was a huge fire going on not far from the valley that day and the light turned from warm and direct to a beautiful, diffused and near impossible purple later in the evening, rendering one of my favorite images from this session: Mel standing against the mighty El Capitan in her beautiful orange dress, complimenting the light oh so well. You’ll see what I’m talking about when you scroll down the images.
